This
is yet another "formal" invitation
to you to volunteer to work a stage event organized
by the Westcoast Rally Association (WCRA). The
Pacific Forest Rally will be the most ambitious
of the performance rallies to date. It
is longer, approximately 170 km of special stages
and 120 km of transit stages, and will take place
in two separate locations: the Scotty Creek
area north of Cache Creek as well as the Battle
Creek area northeast of the town. The PFR
will begin with a night stage on Friday, the
rest of the event will be run on Saturday.
With
regularity, you are "invited" to
volunteer your time and skill to work an
event. Why would
you want to volunteer? Well, I've carefully
considered the possibilities and can offer
the following:
1. to
become a member of the highly-respected,
much admired and truly appreciated team
of workers who make a performance rally
happen.
2. to
learn new skills---including Flagholding ,
the One-handed Countdown and the Line
Dance (the twist and twirl that starters
do on "GO!" to prevent the loss of toes and
injuries that result from flying gravel)
3. to
practise your outdoor survival skills standing
on the side of a road on a mountain in
all kinds of weather for hours on end
4. to
meet new and often interesting people who
support rallysport---from different parts
of BC from Alberta and the United States
5.
to have fun—to
be close to the action!
If
you are an experienced worker, do you have
a job preference? If you
have no experience, we will provide an orientation
to teach you the skills and knowledge that
you will need to do start/finishes, timing,
etc. Contact me—we'll talk! Thanks
in advance for your interest.
